Dear Sir/Ma'am,

I’m writing to submit my resume for consideration as a potential candidate for work in your companies Quality Assurance/Testing department. I’m very interested in offering my services as an experienced Software Test Engineer with a particular emphasis and expertise in test automation, design testplan/cases, and manual testing. I acquired BS and MS Degrees in Computer Science & Engineering. I've extensive experience in leadership of new-development test teams, sustaining test teams and “Extreme QA” automation teams. This leadership involved evaluating workload, assigning tasks appropriately, meeting project milestones, calculating time estimates and reporting to supervisors on a regular basis. As the Lead Test Engineer, I was responsible for ensuring adherence to established standards and processes, coordinating with development, meeting all requirements for product release, signing off on appropriate documents and ultimately the Gold CD for release to publishing. I was responsible for problem solving, coaching/training, and representing the needs of my team members.

I got wide range of experience in Software testing, which I gained from various multinational companies like Cisco Systems, Eastman Kodak, AIG, Documentum etc. My most recent project, I was the driving-force in bringing test automation to Pixion Inc (Pleasanton, CA, USA), a company that had previously done only manual testing of its production software. I have extensive experience with Segue’s SilkTest, am fluent in the 4Test language, and have developed test automation systems and processes designed to utilize this tool to capacity, and beyond what it was originally designed to do. My most recent project of this type was to design and build a process, whereby, SilkTest receives notice of a completed nightly build, re-images the hard drive of a lab test-machine and establishes the needed base-state. It then downloads and installs the nightly build on the target machine, launches a build-verification test, a subsequent battery of regression tests, then emails the results to a list of designated recipients and simultaneously posts the results on the appropriate intranet site. I presented and implemented a test automation process at Attachmate that assured complete script portability, across machines and sites, enabling scripts to run anywhere, on any supported platform, with zero modification. This process was so well received; senior developers and development managers at Pixion’s office are currently championing it as the automation process that should be adopted company-wide. I would like the chance to discuss your companies Quality Assurance standards and practices to see if I can serve your company in a similar manner. I thank you for your time considering this proposal and the accompanying resume, and look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

Shafi Hyder
